Synopsis
वागर्थाविव सम्पृक्तौ वागर्थ:प्रतिपत्तयॆ ।
जगत: पितरौ वन्दॆ पार्वती परमॆश्वरौ ॥
"I bow to the Parents of the Universe, Parvathi and Parameshwara, who are as united as the words and their meanings, so that I may attain skill in words and their interpretation". This is the first shloka in Mahakavi Kalidasa's magnificent kAvyam 'Raghuvamsam'.
In this recital, we offer our salutations to this Divine Couple, Shiva and Shakthi, through a varied range of carefully selected items taking the audience on a colourful and enthralling journey. You will witness the glory of Shiva as a saviour of His devotees and as a controller of time and rhythm (layam) which He manifests in His cosmic dancing pose, Nataraja.
Intimately associated with Lord Shiva is Shakthi who is the source of energy for all the universe. You will see Her as the divine Mother who showers Her mercy on all beings. You will also watch Her join with Her spouse in the cosmic dance as Shivashakthi.
This evenigs recital presents Artistic Director Prabha Raghavan, and senior dancers Avani Dave, Gobinaa Manoharan, Niyati Patel, Sangeeta Bahadur, Shivanthi Sriskandha, and Srinithi Raghavan with live orchestra.

May 30, 2010
Highlights
Sri Sanskriti Dance Academy presented "Margam", a school recital where all of the Sanskriti students had the opportunity to perform. Starting with simpler choreographies, students displayed increasing levels of experience in the art form as the items continued. As the show progressed, different formations and abhinaya were introduced. In the second half of the show, the Arangetram Students performed Abhinaya pieces, and the show finished with a power packed 3 minute performance by the senior students of the academy.
As always, our aim to improve with each year was satisfied, and without our dedicated students, this show would not have been possible. Sri Sanskriti looks forward to giving students many opportunities to learn and perform in the future.

Highlights:
Back by popular demand, Rangoli once again swept the stage and the hearts of the GTA community. We had another full house, and we were able to raise over $60,000 to support disabled children in India. From the hills of Mizoram, to the deserts of Rajasthan; from the coconut trees of Kerala to Maharashtra's harbour, Rangoli was a celebration of the colours of India. With authentic costumes and music, students of Sri Sanskriti Dance Academy under the direction and choreography of Prabha Raghavan performed lively folk dances from India's states. The hard work and dedication put in by the students paid off, and the sold out event was a huge hit!
